Anarawd ap Rhodri
Anarawd ap Rhodri was king of Gwynedd from 878 until his death in 916, the eldest son of Rhodri the Great. In 881 he defeated the Mercians at the mouth of the Conwy, a battle the Welsh annals called vengeance for Rhodri. He later allied with the Vikings of York and then submitted to Alfred the Great, who received him with honour at his court.
