Andong Kim clan
The Andong Kim clan was a Korean aristocratic lineage that dominated the government of Joseon for most of the first half of the nineteenth century. After the death of King Jeongjo in 1800, its leader Kim Jo-sun married his daughter to the boy king Sunjo, and the clan used its queens to control appointments and revenue under three kings. Its in-law rule, marked by corruption and unrest, ended when the regent Heungseon Daewongun took power in 1864.
