BBC
The BBC, the British Broadcasting Corporation, is the United Kingdom's public broadcaster, founded as a company in 1922 and established by royal charter in 1927. Funded mainly by a licence fee, it became a model of public-service broadcasting. During the Second World War its broadcasts to occupied Europe, including Charles de Gaulle's appeal of 18 June 1940, made it a voice of resistance.
