1106–1179 · 12th century

Jeong Jung-bu was a Korean general who led the military coup of 1170 in Goryeo. Angered by the contempt of civil officials, his officers massacred courtiers, deposed King Uijong and set up King Myeongjong, beginning a century of military rule. He dominated the government until he was killed in 1179 by the young general Gyeong Dae-seung.
