Lamphun

Lamphun is a city in northern Thailand on the Kuang River, just south of Chiang Mai. As Hariphunchai it was the capital of a Mon Buddhist kingdom from the late first millennium until Mangrai of Lan Na captured it in 1292. Its temple of Wat Phra That Hariphunchai remains one of the most revered shrines of northern Thailand.
