Mir Muhammad Kor

d. c. 1837 · 19th century · Also known as Muhammad Pasha of Rawanduz

Mir Muhammad Kor ('the one-eyed') was emir of Soran from about 1814 to 1836. Ruling from Rawanduz in the mountains of northern Iraq, he expanded the emirate across much of southern Kurdistan, set up a cannon foundry and armoury and struck his own coins. An Ottoman army forced his surrender in 1836, and he disappeared soon after his journey to Istanbul, probably murdered.
