People's Secretariat

1917–1918 · 20th century

The People's Secretariat was the government of the Bolshevik-led Ukrainian People's Republic of Soviets, formed in Kharkiv in December 1917 as a rival to the Central Rada in Kyiv. Its members included Yevhenia Bosh, Mykola Skrypnyk and Volodymyr Zatonsky. It depended on Red Guards from Russia and was dissolved in 1918 after the German and Austro-Hungarian advance into Ukraine.
