Saint Kitts

Also known as Saint Christopher Island

Saint Kitts, formally Saint Christopher, is a Caribbean island in the Leeward Islands. Thomas Warner founded the first English colony in the Caribbean there in 1623, and the French settled in 1625; the two partitioned the island in 1627. It was the base for further English and French colonisation and passed wholly to Britain in 1713.
