Siglo XX mine

Siglo XX is a large tin mine at Llallagua in the department of Potosí, Bolivia, developed by Simón Patiño in the early twentieth century and nationalised in 1952. With the neighbouring Catavi complex it became the heartland of Bolivia's militant miners' unions. Workers there were killed in the Catavi massacre of 1942 and the San Juan massacre of 1967.
