Slave Abolition Act (Siam)
The Slave Abolition Act of 1905 was the Siamese law that completed the abolition of slavery begun by King Chulalongkorn in 1874. It forbade any new enslavement and freed the children of slaves, while the remaining debt slaves had their redemption price reduced each month until they were free. The reform supplied free labour and taxpayers for the new centralised state.
