Stans Agreement
The Stans Agreement of 22 December 1481 settled a dispute among the Swiss cantons after the Burgundian Wars, between the city cantons and the rural cantons, over the division of booty and the admission of Fribourg and Solothurn. Reached with the advice of the hermit Niklaus von Flüe, it admitted both cities to the Confederacy and set rules against unrest and separate alliances.
