William IV, Grand Duke of Luxembourg

1852–1912 · 19th century

William IV was Grand Duke of Luxembourg from 1905 to 1912, the son of Grand Duke Adolphe of the House of Nassau-Weilburg. Having six daughters and no sons, he had the succession law changed in 1907 so that his eldest daughter, Marie-Adélaïde, could succeed him. Illness led him to hand the regency to his wife, Marie Anne of Portugal, in 1908.
