Altamaha River

The Altamaha River in Georgia, United States, is formed by the meeting of the Oconee and Ocmulgee rivers and flows into the Atlantic near Darien. The charter of 1732 set it as the southern limit of the Province of Georgia, facing Spanish Florida, and Scottish Highlanders settled at its mouth in 1736 to guard the frontier.
