Áspero

c. 3000–2500 BCE

Áspero is an archaeological site at the mouth of the Supe valley on the coast of Peru, one of the earliest monumental centres of the Americas. Its platform mounds, such as the Huaca de los Ídolos, date from about 3000 BCE. Its fishing people exchanged anchovies and shellfish with inland farming centres such as Caral, a link central to the Norte Chico civilisation.
