Bakur III of Iberia
Bakur III was king of Iberia in eastern Georgia in the sixth century. After his death around 580 the Sasanian king Hormizd IV abolished the Iberian monarchy and placed the country under a Persian governor, while Bakur's heirs kept only the highland province of Kakheti. Native rule was partly restored around 588, when Guaram I became presiding prince with Byzantine support.
