r. c. 899–911 · 10th century · Also known as Dyah Balitung

Balitung, or Dyah Balitung, was king of the Medang kingdom of Java from about 899 to 911. His many inscriptions show a realm stretching from Central to East Java, and his Mantyasih inscription of 907 lists the kings who ruled before him, beginning with Sanjaya. He is regarded as one of the most powerful rulers of the kingdom's Central Javanese period.
