Bases Orgánicas

1843 · 19th century · Also known as Organic Bases of the Mexican Republic

The Bases Orgánicas were a centralist constitution of Mexico, drafted by a junta of notables under Antonio López de Santa Anna and promulgated on 12 June 1843. They replaced the Siete Leyes of 1836, kept the departments under central control and strengthened the presidency. They remained in force until the federal constitution of 1824 was restored in 1846.
