Bassa people (Liberia)

The Bassa are a Kru-speaking people of central Liberia, living mostly in Grand Bassa and neighbouring counties along the coast and inland. They traded and clashed with the American settlers who founded colonies on their coast in the 1830s, among them Bassa Cove. They have their own script, Bassa Vah.
