Battle of Noáin

1521 · 16th century · Also known as Battle of Esquíroz · Part of the Spanish conquest of Iberian Navarre

The Battle of Noáin was fought on 30 June 1521 near Pamplona. A Castilian army defeated the Franco-Navarrese force under André de Foix that had briefly recovered Pamplona and most of Navarre for the exiled king Henry II of Albret. The defeat ended the last serious attempt to restore an independent kingdom in Upper Navarre, which remained part of the Spanish monarchy.
