575 BCE · 6th century BCE

The Battle of Yanling was fought in 575 BCE in modern Henan between the State of Jin and the State of Chu, which had come to support Zheng. Jin won, and King Gong of Chu was wounded in the eye by an arrow. The victory restored Jin's leadership of the northern states and ended Chu's ascendancy in the central plain.
