Belmopan

Belmopan is the capital of Belize, a planned city built in the interior of the country in the 1960s. The government decided to move the capital from coastal Belize City after Hurricane Hattie devastated it in 1961, and Belmopan became the seat of government in 1970. It remains much smaller than Belize City.
