Birim River
The Birim is a river in southern Ghana, a tributary of the Pra, flowing through the forest of the Eastern Region. Its valley was the homeland of the Akyem states, Akyem Abuakwa, Akyem Kotoku and Akyem Bosome, from the 16th or 17th century. It is rich in alluvial gold and diamonds, which have long been mined there.
