Biscay
Biscay (Basque: Bizkaia) is a province of the Basque Country in northern Spain, with its capital at Bilbao. In the Middle Ages it was a lordship ruled by the Haro family; it passed to the Crown of Castile in 1379 but kept its own fueros, or customary laws, and its assembly at Guernica until the 19th century. Its iron mines and ports made it the industrial heart of the Basque Country.
