Bor, Serbia
Bor is a mining town in eastern Serbia and the centre of one of Europe's largest copper deposits. Mining began in 1903 and was developed between the world wars by a French company, making Bor a major site of foreign investment in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. During the Second World War the German occupiers used forced labour there, including Hungarian Jews such as the poet Miklós Radnóti.
