Bridgnorth
Bridgnorth is a market town on the River Severn in Shropshire, England. Æthelflæd, Lady of the Mercians, built a burh, or fortified town, there in 912 against the Vikings, who had camped nearby in 895–896. In 1102 Henry I besieged and took the castle of the rebel Robert of Bellême at Bridgnorth, and the town grew on its sandstone ridge above the river.
