Robert of Bellême
Robert of Bellême was an Anglo-Norman magnate, son of Roger de Montgomery, with great estates in Normandy and England. He became Earl of Shrewsbury in 1098 and was notorious for his cruelty. His rebellion against Henry I in 1102 failed when his Welsh allies, led by Iorwerth ap Bleddyn, changed sides, and he was banished. Captured in 1112, he spent the rest of his life in prison.
