Cambodian People's Party
The Kampuchean People's Revolutionary Party was the ruling communist party of the People's Republic of Kampuchea, set up after Vietnam overthrew the Khmer Rouge in 1979 and claiming descent from the party founded in 1951. Led by former Khmer Rouge cadres such as Heng Samrin and Hun Sen, it ruled as the sole legal party under Vietnamese protection. In 1991 it abandoned Marxism–Leninism and renamed itself the Cambodian People's Party, which has dominated Cambodian politics since.
