Conan IV, Duke of Brittany

c. 1138–1171 · 12th century

Conan IV was duke of Brittany from 1156 to 1166 and earl of Richmond in England. Under pressure from Henry II of England, he gave up power in 1166 and betrothed his daughter and heiress Constance to Henry's son Geoffrey, bringing Brittany into the Angevin sphere. He kept only the county of Guingamp and died in 1171.
