Emperor Fei of Jin

342–386 · 4th century · Also known as Duke of Haixi

Emperor Fei of Jin, personal name Sima Yi, reigned over the Eastern Jin dynasty from 365 to 371. Real power lay with the general Huan Wen, who in 371 deposed him on the pretext that his sons were not his own and reduced him to the rank of Duke of Haixi. He lived under close watch until his death in 386; 'Fei' is not a temple name but means 'the deposed'.
