b. 1953 · 20th century

Ewuare II is the Oba of Benin, crowned in 2016 in succession to his father Erediauwa. Before his accession he was a Nigerian diplomat, serving as ambassador to several countries. As traditional ruler of the Edo people he has pressed for the return of the Benin Bronzes looted by British forces in 1897, a number of which have since been handed back.
