Federico Ponce Vaides
Federico Ponce Vaides (1889–1956) was a Guatemalan general who became provisional president in July 1944 after protests forced the dictator Jorge Ubico to resign. When he tried to keep power through a managed election, a revolt by young officers, students and workers overthrew him on 20 October 1944, the start of the ten-year Guatemalan Revolution.
