Gajapati dynasty
The Gajapati dynasty, or Suryavamsi Gajapatis, ruled Odisha in eastern India from 1434, when Kapilendra Deva seized power from the Eastern Gangas, until about 1541. Under Kapilendra Deva their kingdom stretched far south along the east coast. Wars with Vijayanagara under Krishnadevaraya between 1513 and 1519 cost them the lands south of the Krishna, and the dynasty ended amid court conflicts in the 1540s.
