Krishna
Krishna is one of the most widely worshipped Hindu gods, revered as an avatar of Vishnu or as the supreme deity. In the Mahabharata he is the Yadava prince who counsels Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, and later texts celebrate his childhood among the cowherds around Mathura. His cult, early known as that of Vasudeva-Krishna, inspired devotional poetry, temples and painting across India.
