Goryeo–Khitan War
The Goryeo–Khitan War was a series of invasions of the Korean kingdom of Goryeo by the Khitan Liao dynasty between 993 and 1019. Goryeo retained land south of the Yalu by diplomacy in 993 and resisted a major invasion in 1010, which burned the capital Kaesong. The Goryeo general Gang Gam-chan destroyed the last Khitan army at Kwiju in 1019, after which peace followed.
