Government of India Act 1935
The Government of India Act 1935 was the longest act passed by the British Parliament up to that time and the last constitution of British India. It granted autonomy to the provinces, ended dyarchy, widened the franchise and proposed an all-India federation including the princely states, which was never put into effect. Elections under the act in 1937 brought Congress ministries to power in most provinces, and much of it shaped the constitutions of India and Pakistan.
