Grammos

Also known as Mount Grammos

Grammos is a mountain range on the border between north-western Greece and Albania, rising to about 2,520 metres. During the Greek Civil War it was the main stronghold of the communist Democratic Army, and in August 1949 the government army under Alexandros Papagos took it, together with nearby Vitsi, in the operations that ended the war.
