Gugong Danfu
Gugong Danfu, 'the Ancient Duke Danfu', was a legendary ancestor of the Zhou royal house and the grandfather of King Wen. According to tradition he led the Zhou people from Bin to the plain of Zhouyuan below Mount Qi in present-day Shaanxi to escape attacks by nomadic peoples, laying the foundation of the later Zhou state. Later Zhou kings honoured him with the posthumous title King Tai.
