HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën (1910)
De Zeven Provinciën was a Dutch coastal defence ship launched in 1909 and stationed in the East Indies. In February 1933 Indonesian and Dutch sailors seized it off Sumatra in protest against pay cuts; after several days a naval aircraft bombed the ship, killing 23 men, and the mutiny ended. The colonial government used the episode to justify harsher measures against nationalists. Renamed Soerabaja, the ship was sunk in 1942.
