Idrisid dynasty
The Idrisid dynasty was the first Islamic dynasty to rule Morocco, founded in the late eighth century. Early Arab writers used it as a point of comparison for the Ghana Empire: the astronomer al-Fazari described Ghana as equal in size to the Idrisid state. This reference is cited in the Ghana Empire's foundation history.
