Kalenjin people
The Kalenjin are a group of related Nilotic-speaking peoples of the highlands of western Kenya's Rift Valley, among them the Nandi, Kipsigis, Keiyo, Marakwet and Tugen. Traditionally cattle-keepers and farmers organised in age sets, they speak closely related languages. The shared name came into use in the 1940s and 1950s; the Nandi resisted British rule until 1905, and the Kalenjin are now among Kenya's largest communities.
