Lawrence Stager
Lawrence Stager was an American archaeologist, a professor at Harvard University and a leading scholar of the ancient Levant. From 1985 he directed the Leon Levy Expedition to Ashkelon in Israel, which uncovered Canaanite, Philistine and later remains, including the city's Middle Bronze Age gate. His work did much to shape modern understanding of the Philistines and of daily life in ancient Israel.
