Linth
The Linth is a river of eastern Switzerland that rises in the Glarus Alps and flows north through the canton of Glarus towards Lake Walen and Lake Zurich. Its valley formed the heart of the land of Glarus. Flooding in the lower plain was ended by the Linth correction of 1807–1816, led by Hans Conrad Escher, one of the first great engineering works of modern Switzerland.
