Mot (god)
Mot is the god of death in the religion of Ugarit and Canaan, whose name means death. In the Baal cycle he swallows the storm god Baal, bringing drought, until the goddess Anat cuts him down and Baal returns to life; the two gods then fight to a standstill. The myth links the seasonal cycle of rain and drought to a struggle between fertility and death.
