Baal

Also known as Baal Hadad

Baal, meaning lord, was the title of the Canaanite storm and fertility god Hadad, widely worshipped in the ancient Levant. At Ugarit the Baal cycle tells of his battles with Yam, the sea, and Mot, death, and in Egypt he was identified with Seth. The Hebrew Bible condemns his worship, notably in the stories of Elijah and King Ahab.
