Bronze Age

The Bronze Age is the period in which bronze was the dominant material for tools and weapons, in the Near East and eastern Mediterranean lasting from about the late fourth millennium to around 1200 BCE. Its late phase saw a system of great powers including the Egyptian Empire New Kingdom, the Hittite Empire and the Mitanni Empire. It ended in the widespread collapse of the twelfth century BCE, after which Phoenician cities, ancestors of Punic civilisation, rose to prominence.
