Bronze casting

Also known as bronze-casting

Bronze casting is the technique of shaping objects by pouring molten copper alloy into moulds, often using the lost-wax method. In the Benin Empire, casting was controlled by a royal guild working for the oba. The art produced the plaques and commemorative heads known as the Benin Bronzes.
