Mulopwe
Mulopwe was the title of the sacred king of the Luba Empire. The mulopwe was believed to possess a special royal essence, balopwe, which legitimated his rule. After the Belgian conquest, the last pre-colonial mulopwe existed only as a client chief under colonial administration by 1917.
