Petrograd Military Revolutionary Committee
The Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet was formed in October 1917, nominally to defend the capital, and came under Bolshevik control with Leon Trotsky as its leading figure. On 25 October (7 November) 1917 its forces seized key points of Petrograd and then the Winter Palace, overthrowing the Provisional Government in the October Revolution. It was dissolved in December 1917.
