October Revolution
The October Revolution was the seizure of power in Petrograd by the Bolshevik Party under Vladimir Lenin on 25 October 1917 by the old Russian calendar, 7 November by the modern one. Red Guards and soldiers directed by the Military Revolutionary Committee overthrew the Provisional Government, and a Congress of Soviets proclaimed a Soviet government. It led to the Russian Civil War and the creation of the Soviet Union.
