Quba

Also known as Guba, Kuba

Quba is a town in north-eastern Azerbaijan on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus, near the Caspian coast. In the 18th century it was the seat of the Quba Khanate, whose ruler Fatali Khan united much of the eastern Caucasus. Russia occupied it in 1806. Across the river lies Krasnaya Sloboda, one of the largest Mountain Jewish settlements in the world.
